The main objectives of this exercise were to strengthen and promote cooperation between Salvamento Marítimo and other supranational, national, regional and local bodies related to the response and fight against pollution, verify the implementation of the coordination regime provided for in the National Marine Pollution Response System and the National Maritime Plan, review the level of training of all personnel involved in rescue and pollution control operations, and implement operational protocols for reporting and combating pollution.

International exercise of rescue and fight against marine pollution POLEX 24-17, organized by Dirección General de la Marina Mercante (DGMM) y Salvamento Marítimo (SASEMAR). It is the most important of the trainings that are organized annually, carried out with real air and sea means and with deployment of equipment to combat marine pollution.
