Initial conditions
This exercise to combat marine pollution will take place on June 5 and 6, 2025 on Cies Beach, in the municipality of Vigo, province of Pontevedra.
Data that support the incident
The origin of the contamination is the spillage of one of the fuel tanks of a merchant ship leaving the port of Villagarcía as a result of a collision between it and a refrigerator with frozen tuna on demand from the port of La Puebla del Caramiñal for unloading.
As the Territorial Contingency Plan for Accidental Marine Pollution of the Autonomous Community of Galicia (CAMGAL Plan) is activated in the level 2 emergency situation phase, its Director requests the mobilization of resources from the State Plan for the Protection of the Seashore, integrating them into the territorial plan.
Therefore, in accordance with the SNR, in the face of marine pollution, the response resources that the Ministry has at its nearest rapid response base, located in Pontevedra, are mobilized.
